What made you start Collecting Records?

I’ve always been drawn to things with culture and history. When I was a kid I loved to look through my parents old photo albums and that eventually evolved to looking through all their old things including figuring out how to work their record player and dig through their record collection. I was in heaven. I was so drawn to the cover art, reading through the notes, the personalized messages from the artist, and just the ability to hold this seemingly magical disc. My love for nostalgia is real. Collecting vinyl makes me feel like I have a piece of history. I love that vinyl is passed down from one generation to the next- whether from family or complete stranger. Spinning a record is an art form and it’s one of my favorite things to do.

How Does Music Make you feel?

It’s something that is hard to describe with words. It’s euphoric. Music is an escape and has been here for me as long as I can remember. I’ve always been super introverted and as a kid would curl up with a book and my Sony CD player. I love that I can briefly escape reality; whether it’s for meditation or to prepare for a night of going out. Music is a big part of memories we create with loved ones. A night drive with your boo, the Saturday mornings cleaning the house to oldies, that one heartbreak, or the song you and the bestie can sing every lyric to at the top of your lungs. Music is healing. It’s a form of self-care. Music is used when we are happy, sad, celebrating, or mourning. There is a song for every mood or occasion.

How important is music to you and your daily living?

Music is very important to me and I don’t go a day without it. Music can inspire and motivate in different ways. Most of us have a playlist for the gym, relaxing, or when we need to write or create.
